Along the Medway River

One of the rivers close to my place is the Medway River. The part I can easily visit and follow is largely untamed. White water in some places, quiet a few hundred meters away.

It also has a lot of little side streams, parts that split off from the main river and later recombine. It makes for a very interesting place to photograph.

A weekend of island life (2)

A while ago I posted about a weekend on Brier Island, NS. Living on an island seems idyllic to city folks and landlubbers alike. But you have to be of a special mindset to live on an island.

Gullivers Cove

I can’t imagine myself living in a place where you have to take several boat/ferries and hours of driving before arriving at the closest supermarket for my food.

Taking a hike

Nobody wants to hear “Take a hike!”. But there is nothing wrong with taking one anyway. Even more if the hike is in a place where you can take plenty of pictures in the process.

Kejimkujik Lake

So taking a hike for me is a matter of pleasure. And no, nobody made me do it.

Goodbye, summer!

And there went another summer. It’s hard to keep count of them nowadays, eh? As usual, it looks like we hardly did anything before it was already over again.

Rat Rod

That’s a common perception. Good times always go too fast, while the more difficult times seem to last forever, cling around and settle in for the long haul.

Liverpool Lee

Ok, it’s over. We survived. While the storm hit us hardest during the night, I could only go and watch it once the day had come again. Visibly I was not the only rubbernecker on the shoreline either.

Backyard flooding

Hurricane Lee was born off the coast of Africa and rapidly gained strength. The weather models could barely agree on its path until the path became closer to “home”. The result of this was anxiety and trepidation for many people on the US east coast and Atlantic Canada.
